This is the second CD packed in with the OST for the anime series Paradise Kiss. It is comprised of singles from the Japanese indie band The Babys over the years, since Paradise Kiss used these as background music during some scenes in the show (and the vocalist is a voice actor for one of the main characters).

If you're into softer J-rock at least give a few tracks a listen like Alien, My Little Girl, RRPP, Kimi no Yoru, and Romantic na Speed de.

The Pecker EP

Artist: Big Old Eyes
Album: The Pecker EP
Year: 2005
Genre: Alternative Rock, Indie Rock
Country: Canada

The first release from Prince George's own Big Old Eyes, essentially known as the greatest band to come out of PG. It's only two songs, but it certainly showcases the talent that the band was only just beginning to discover.

More to come! I plan on uploading their discography, as well as frontman Rob Dunlop's solo material.

Voxtrot - Raised By Wolves

artist: Voxtrot
album: Raised By Wolves EP
genre: alt/indie rock
year: 2005
country: usa

you know its not often enough that i go through all the music on my over cluttered hard drive and give what was once forgotten an honest listen. and, after a few spins, i think its time to share. lyrical stylings that are reminiscent of early belle & sebastion and jangly 60's guitar pop, with some modern day "get up and move" beats. this is probably the only way i'm able to describe voxtrot, a band that people first took notice of around '06 when it seemed that every other week another band or song about wolves would be the latest thing to talk about. raised by wolves is a five song ep that gives a pretty good insight of things to come from the band early on. while i can't say that the band has entirly lived up to everything it built up from this ep (i wanted a bit more from their first lp), they will always have a place in my heart and on my hard drive.
this isn't to say that what they have done since is a complete letdown. quite the opposite. i'm just waiting for the full album that really shows off the band's full potential.

The Arbitrarys - Anticipation Is Our Destination

Artist: The Arbitrarys
Album: Anticipation Is Our Destination
Genre: Indie Folk/Pop
Country: Canada
Year: 2007

Track Listing:
1. Heat the Suck
2. It'll Pass
3. I Don't Know
4. So...
5. You Are An Island
6. Hey Doll
7. God Damnit It's About Time

The Arbitrarys are Josh Sandu and Naomi Kavka of Prince George, BC. On this album it's Sandu on guitar and Kavka on cello, with a little clarinet and piano here and there. They toured Canada the summer of '08 with a full band, and sometimes they take on the full band at their live shows in town. Kavka has a beautiful, classically trained voice that at times sounds haunting, especially on "It'll Pass." Both have mastered harmonizing with one another. Normally I prefer a fuller sound, but these two manage to pull off the two person band with grace. I tend to overlook local artists when I am deciding on an album to play, simply because I feel like a chotch when they're my close friends, but I can't seem to keep this one off repeat.

moving mountains - pneuma

band: moving mountains
album: pneuma
genre: post-rock, indie rock
country: usa
year: 2007

"...I have yet to detail why I’m so ticked off at myself for being woefully under-informed. Pick your reason. But it’s probably the vast diversities between songs - “Aphelion” mixes horns with startling screams, while “Sol Solis” is a simple, acoustic ballad. Their ability to write a mathy and atmospheric rock song (“Alastika”) never hampers their aptitude at transcending the restraints of ‘regular’ post-rock (“The Earth And The Sun”). Quite simply, there is nothing these guys can’t do."

This is music in the 'post-rock/indie rock mashup' vein that bands like the Appleseed Cast or A Red Season Shade occupy, though said bands RARELY reach the intensity or the sheer quality Moving Mountains have put together here.

She & Him - Volume One

Band: She & Him
Album: Volume One
Genre: Indie/60s Pop/Country/Folk
Country of Origin: USA
Year: 2008

Track Listing:
  1. Sentimental Heart
  2. Why Do You Let Me Stay Here?
  3. This Is Not A Test
  4. Change Is Hard
  5. I Thought I Saw Your Face Today
  6. Take It Back
  7. I Was Made For You
  8. You Really Got A Hold On Me
  9. Black Hole
  10. Got Me
  11. I Should Have Known Better
  12. Sweet Darlin'
  13. Swing Low Sweet Chariot
She & Him is duo consisting of actress Zooey Deschanel (Pronounced: zoey day-shu-NELL) and musician M. Ward. They play an amalgamation and mix of Indie, Folk, old-fashioned 60s style Pop, and Country. Songs like "Change Is Hard" and "I Should Have Known Better" are more Country, "I Was Made For You" instantly brings to mind older Pop music, "Sentimental Heart" brings piano and strings together into and a sad yet pretty mix, "Why Do You Let Me Stay Here?" and "Sweet Darlin'" burst with perkiness and Zooey Deschanel's lovely singing, echoed by Ward, brings poignancy to their interpretation of "You Really Got A Hold On Me". It's a delightful album that brings together many elements into a collection of tunes that bring with them many emotions and atmospheres. Let's hope there's a Volume Two.

Broken Social Scene - Broken Social Scene

Band: Broken Social Scene
Album: Broken Social Scene
Genre: Indie Rock
Country of Origin: Canada
Year: 2005

Track Listing:
  1. Our Faces Split The Coast In Half
  2. Ibi Dreams Of Pavement (A Better Day)
  3. 7/4 (Shoreline)
  4. Finish Your Collapse And Stay For Breakfast
  5. Major Label Debut

  8. Swimmers
  9. Hotel
  10. Handjobs For The Holidays
  11. Superconnected
  12. Bandwitch
  13. Tremoloa Debut
  14. It's All Gonna Break
Broken Social Scene are a band from Toronto, Canada and the ability to make TV studio stages look incredibly crowded due to their obscene amount of band members that only looks modest when compared to Folkearth. Despite being large enough to form a small tribal community, the band manages to draw upon its members' collective creativity and create utterly fantastic music. Their eponymous album is a collection of Indie Rock songs that have an almost Ambient feel, similar to prior album You Forgot it in People; the album definitely has a stronger Rock feel though.
